The Latest Release by Aviation Artist Robert Bailey! Robert Bailey's latest print release "Deck Departure" is a natural for us! The subject matter is the launch of Lt Col "Hamster" Hobson's F/A 18 from the deck of the USS Nimitz CVN 68 from the #3 catapult in 2008. The print has been co-signed by 5 upper echelon officers currently serving aboard USS Nimitz. The Artist's Proof edition (which we are stocking) includes a companion print entitled "Last Launch" depicting the aircraft departing USS Nimitz prior to her arrival at San Diego at the end of June 2008. Exciting New Profile Drawings! Our profile drawing artists, George Bieda and Mads Bangso, have put together some great new drawings. George has produced drawings of the San Antonio Class of Amphibious Transport Dock. This includes the newly launched USS New York LPD 21. This ship is very unique. Twenty-four tons of steel salvaged from the debris of the World Trade Center were used in the bow section of this mighty ship. It will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who were involved in any way with the horrific and tragic events of September 11, 2001. Working closely with the Reunion Committees and current squadron members, Mads Bangso has composed specially commissioned prints for the Reunions of the VFA-11 Red Rippers (their 80th Anniversary), and the VFA-154 Black Knights. Each print contains every aircraft type flown by the squadrons. The prints were available at the recent Reunions, and are also offered here. Thumbnails of each new drawing are shown below.
